Digital-Era Lab - DEL
The Digital-Era Lab is a flexible and technology enriched space that promotes the design and implementation of learning scenarios based on active learning methodologies, in which students have an active role and teachers take on the role of mentors and supervisors. Located at the Professor Agostinho da Silva Schools Cluster, in Sintra (Portugal), this Innovative Learning Environment (ILE) began to be built in 2018. That year, 6 training workshops were also held of teachers, lasting 50 hours, on the development of Open Education Resources (OER) using eight digital tools, involving all teachers. The ILE was completed in 2020, with the support of the Municipality of Sintra through the financing of equipment. Its genesis stemmed from the need to provide teachers with the training for pedagogical transformation to take place, to make learning more active, cooperative, personalized, differentiated, formative, transversal, challenging, and process focused. In the context, some learning scenarios were developed that take advantage of the ILE characteristics, such the flexibility of the space, the technological diversity, and an LED lighting system, controlled by a programmable table, capable of providing a more involving environment.
The development of learning scenarios that can also be implemented in the remaining classrooms of the school is envisaged. At this stage, we are developing a new project that aims to transform all the school's classrooms into ILEs, progressively and consistently training all teachers to fully use a model of learning scenario that facilitates this change.
